Stock Market Analysis of companies listed on NSE of 2020

General Introduction of Stock Market:-

A stock market is where individual (Rakesh JhunJhunwala,Ramesh Damani) and institutional (Hind Rectifiers,IFB Industries) investors come together to buy and sell shares. If one says that he/she trades in the stock market, it means that the person buys and sells shares/equities on one (or more) of the stock exchange(s) that are part of the overall stock market.

Two major stock markets of India:-

  • National Stock Exchange(NSE):- It was established in 1992 and is the 11th largest stock market in the world by market capitalization. Trading is done only inside India in this stock exchange.

  • Bombay Stock Exchange(BSE):- It was established in 1875 and is the 10th largest stock market in the world by market capitalization. Trading is done in the whole of Asia in this stock exchange.

How is the Stock Market useful for investors?

Stock market analysis enables investors to identify the essential worth of a security even before investing in it. By using stock analysis, investors and traders arrive at equity buying and selling decisions. Studying and evaluating past and current data helps investors and traders to gain an edge in the markets to make informed decisions.

General information about the project:-

This project focuses on the analysis of stock market data of all companies listed on the National Stock Exchange(NSE) from 1st of January, 2020 to 8th of August,2020. The data is extracted from the NSE website for performing exploratory data analysis and visualization.

For performing stock market analysis of NSE data, we will be using the following libraries:-

  • Pandas
  • Numpy
  • Matplotlib

Mr. Aakash, founder of Jovian ML has provided a wondeful six-week course on performing data analysis and visualization using Python. The course taught me a lot about the practical aspects of Data Analysis, handling missing values and using Python and their libraries(Numpy, MatplotLib, Seaborn and Pandas) to perform Data Analysis and Visualization of COVID-19 and Stack Overflow survey data.

A vote of thanks to NSE India for providing the stock market data in an open-source manner.
